Bi-quality: The Micro-Project Supported by the Youth Bank in Mazara del Vallo and Castellammare del Golfo

"Bi-quality" is one of the six micro-projects supported by the Sicilian Youth Bank, an innovative youth bank launched as part of the *T.R.A.P. project - Tutt Rivendichiamo Altre Prospettive**, directed by the Community Foundation of Agrigento and Trapani. T.R.A.P. is a project selected by "Con i Bambini" within the Fund for combating juvenile educational poverty, targeting minors involved with juvenile justice authorities, their families, USMM operators, and social services.
The protagonists of "Bi-quality" are the young people engaged by the T.R.A.P. project at the territorial center in Trapani, who carried out two urban care and regeneration interventions representing common goods: the first intervention in Mazara del Vallo, and the second in Castellammare del Golfo, both towns in the province of Trapani.
Regeneration and upcycling in Mazara del Vallo
"Bi-quality" in Mazara del Vallo involved the rehabilitation of a common area, a courtyard in a peripheral and fragile zone, through cleaning and the installation of urban furniture. The furniture was created using an upcycling approach - converting old objects into new functions - and decorated by the boys and girls who met once a week, dedicating time to themselves, guided by operators from the Associazione Casa della Comunità Speranza.

Green Rehabilitation in Castellammare del Golfo
In Castellammare del Golfo, the intervention focused on the rehabilitation of green areas and courtyards adjacent to the "San Paolo" Juvenile Penal Community, with area cleaning, urban furniture installation, and the creation of a garden area.
The Response of the Youth
The boys and girls from the Territorial Center of Trapani reported that it was an extremely rewarding and educational experience. They learned the importance of teamwork, listening, embracing everyone's proposals, and the ability to make collective decisions. The satisfaction of seeing a common project come to life was immense. They hope that the revitalized spaces will become a healthy and lively meeting point for their peers, as well as a positive reference.
"Bi-quality" is a tangible example of how youth commitment can positively transform local communities. Through the T.R.A.P. project and the Youth Bank, the young people from the Territorial Center of Trapani have not only contributed to the revitalization of urban areas but have also gained vital skills such as teamwork, responsible resource management, and social responsibility. Their efforts have demonstrated how active participation can generate a real and positive impact on the community, turning simple spaces into places of aggregation and inclusion.
