Collaboration Agreement between the Community Foundation of Agrigento and Trapani and LUMSA: A Shared Commitment to Adolescent Well-being

The Community Foundation of Agrigento and Trapani and LUMSA - Libera Università Maria SS. Assunta have recently signed a framework collaboration agreement marking a significant step forward in the promotion of educational and social inclusion policies. This agreement stems from the shared desire to create a positive impact for our communities, especially for our young people, by jointly deploying resources and expertise to implement projects that generate social value.
Objectives and Areas of Collaboration
n line with their respective goals, the Community Foundation and LUMSA will promote joint local development actions through co-design activities in areas such as community empowerment, public administration capacity building, sustainability, inclusion and cohesion, digital and ecological transition. Special attention in this initial phase of collaboration will be given to educational policies and the promotion of youth well-being.
The Child Municipality Policy for Mazara del Vallo
As part of the "Sfide" project - financed by the European Union through the Next Generation EU program within the PNRR - the Community Foundation and LUMSA will join forces for the development of a Municipality Policy for the well-being of adolescents in Mazara del Vallo (TP). “This is a municipal policy, that is, a set of strategies and initiatives implemented at the municipal level to improve the quality of life and well-being of young residents, addressing issues such as education, health, safety, and social inclusion,” says Umberto Di Maggio, associate professor of general sociology at LUMSA in Palermo, adding: “the initiative will create a collaboration platform involving adolescents, teachers, Third Sector entities, public administration, businesses, and active citizens. The Community Foundation will lead this platform; LUMSA will play a crucial role in statistical-social research and scientific support in the sociological area, as well as in the final drafting phase of the Policy.”
Importance of Collaboration
The agreement between the Community Foundation of Agrigento and Trapani and LUMSA represents a model of integration and synergy between academic and operational institutions, emphasizing the importance of a multidisciplinary and systemic approach to address social challenges. The complementarity between LUMSA's scientific and academic expertise and the Community Foundation's practical and territorial experience creates a solid framework for the development of sustainable policies and programs for our communities. “The research and analyses conducted by LUMSA will provide fundamental data and best practices to guide field actions, while the Community Foundation will ensure that these actions are rooted in local realities and effectively respond to community challenges,” says Pietro Basiricò, President of the Community Foundation of Agrigento and Trapani. “This integrated and strategic approach is essential to ensure the sustainability and long-term impact of the projects.”
