FA BENE. Reducing Inequalities Through Food
WHERE DOES IT COME FROM? The FA BENE project is born in response to the social and economic urgencies arising from the spread of Covid-19. The complexity of the emergency requires a response that involves the entire community. Therefore, FA BENE is born with a community-based approach to enhance and activate initiatives of social utility for the benefit of widespread vulnerabilities.
WHAT IS THE MISSION? Reducing inequalities of opportunity through food. The project aims to reaffirm the community value of food by using it as a means to promote social cohesion and the employment of the most vulnerable people.
Realize a growth vision while maintaining a dual perspective. By looking at both the social and the economic-entrepreneurial spheres, the goal is to promote sustainable community development and support "good and just" work.
ACTIONS THAT DO GOOD FPG - Family Purchase Groups. We are promoting the establishment of FPGs. Group purchasing of food products has numerous benefits: quality local products, reduced environmental impact, conscious consumption, community cohesion, and support for employment. In fact, profits from purchases will be invested to create jobs for people in vulnerable situations. The groups will not only be a responsible purchasing method but also community opportunities through the organization of local animation activities: social dinners, visits to agri-food companies affiliated with FA BENE, educational-recreational meetings.
Ethical and Solidarity E-commerce. FA BENE aggregates local short-chain products on its e-commerce platform, which can be purchased by joining FPGs. Suppliers are selected based on ethical and sustainability criteria: respect for the environment and their workers, social impact on their communities. The e-commerce will offer a variety of products, not only agri-food items but also proximity services for vulnerable individuals, such as suspended meals and suspended carts.
DEVELOPMENT Establishment of a social enterprise. FA BENE promotes the employment inclusion of vulnerable individuals (young NEETs, unemployed adults, immigrants, disabled) by using profits from purchases to create professional integration pathways. They will be involved in managing commercial and logistical aspects and become part of the FA BENE enterprise.
Community Generative Pact. FA BENE is networking institutions, businesses, formal and informal groups, and individuals: an important intervention in trust and relational infrastructure. Therefore, in the near future, we will promote a "Community Generative Pact": a community manifesto for the sustainable development of the "good and just" work network.
