GAMEY Kicks Off: A New Project to Make Financial Education More Engaging and Accessible

The **GAMEY – Gamified Approach to Money Education for Youth** project has officially begun with its kickoff meeting in Velenje, Slovenia, marking the start of an innovative journey to enhance financial literacy among young people.

Project Goals

GAMEY aims to promote financial education among young people aged 14 to 29, with a special focus on those from disadvantaged backgrounds. The project seeks to develop interactive and gamified tools that make financial learning more engaging and practical, equipping young people with the skills to manage their finances responsibly and plan for their economic future.

At the same time, GAMEY is also designed for educators, trainers, and youth workers, providing them with innovative resources and methodologies to integrate financial education into their teaching programs.

What We Will Achieve in the Next Two Years

The project includes several key actions to reach its objectives: ✔ Assessment of the state of financial education in partner countries (Italy, Slovenia, Poland, Bulgaria, Sweden, and Greece) to identify best practices and training needs. ✔ Development of the GAMEY Educational Program, a training curriculum consisting of 10 interactive modules on essential financial topics. ✔ Creation of the GAMEY E-learning Platform, an online space hosting educational materials, digital tools, and discussion forums. ✔ Training activities for 60 young people, featuring interactive and gamified learning sessions. ✔ Establishment of a European network to foster financial education cooperation among partners and ensure the project’s sustainability.

Kickoff Meeting and Design Thinking Workshop in Velenje

The project officially launched with a partner meeting in Velenje, Slovenia, where the roadmap of activities was presented, and the first discussions took place on strategies to make financial education more effective through innovative methodologies.

One of the most significant moments was the Design Thinking session, a collaborative and creative methodology used to develop practical solutions and address the needs of the target audience. Project partners worked together to define the guidelines for the development of the educational program, focusing on how to make financial education more dynamic and accessible to young people.

During the session, participants were divided into working groups to tackle different educational challenges, using an approach based on empathy, creativity, and experimentation. The preliminary user needs analysis helped identify key barriers young people face in learning finance and inspired solutions that incorporate gamification, digital storytelling, and experiential learning.

Through this process, the key principles shaping the GAMEY Educational Program were established, ensuring that training modules will be: 🎯 Interactive – Featuring simulations and real-life scenarios that allow learners to apply their knowledge. 🎮 Gamified – Using game mechanics to keep participants motivated. 📱 Digital – Integrating innovative tools such as apps, quizzes, and online platforms. 🌍 Inclusive – Accessible to all, with a special focus on young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The session was highly inspiring and productive, with active participation from all project partners, who contributed innovative ideas and concrete proposals to make financial education more engaging and useful for young people.

With this first step, GAMEY is set to revolutionize how young people learn about finance, transforming it into a practical, fun, and accessible experience for all.
