TILT: in Canicattì the final event of the educational course promoting women's empowerment through STEAMs
On June 3rd, the Istituto d'Istruzione Secondaria Superiore Galileo Galilei of Canicattì (AG) hosted the final event of the T**ILT project - Inclusive Technologies for Free Talents,** an innovative training course focusing on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics), implemented by the Agrigento and Trapani Community Foundation. The event, entitled ‘The Future is Us: Women between Activism and Technology’, represented the culmination of the ‘TILT! Female Empowerment and Gender Equality’ project, created with the aim of raising awareness among young people on the importance of gender equality in the world of work.
The leading actors of the event were the students of the two fifth-grade classes involved in the project, who had the opportunity to discuss crucial issues such as women's empowerment and activism. Through interactive activities and discussions, they explored the deep connection between technology and the fight for rights, reflecting on how these tools can amplify the voices of those who are often marginalized.
During this journey, which began in November 2023, participants explored concepts related to the methodology of Design Thinking, collaborative design, and the basic principles of team building. They also experimented with new technologies such as FIGMA, Leonardo AI, and ChatGPT, developing advanced technical skills that are fundamental for their professional future.
For the final event, the students, divided into groups, worked on photographic documentation, the creation of a timeline on the history of feminism, and the development of graphic designs for posters celebrating important figures for women's empowerment in Sicily. Using digital and technological tools such as Canva and Leonardo AI, they conceived and designed collaboratively, demonstrating great creativity and technical skills.
The final event of the TILT! project demonstrated how education integrated with modern technologies can be a powerful tool to promote gender equality and the empowerment of new generations. The Community Foundation of Agrigento and Trapani, through this pathway, has promoted access to technology as a tool for personal and professional empowerment and is committed to continuing on this pathway, supporting initiatives that promote inclusion and equal opportunities for all.
