Towards the future jobs: first green jobs educational workshop begins in Mazara del Vallo

On October 23, 2024, the first session of the training course "Green Jobs - Educational Workshops Following the Challenge-Based Method" was inaugurated at the Don Gaspare Morello Art High School in Mazara del Vallo. This initiative is part of the Sfide – Generazioni in Crescita project and aims to raise awareness among young people about environmental sustainability and prepare them for future green professions through an innovative and engaging learning method.

The Sfide project, supported by the European Union under the Next Generation EU program and the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), seeks to combat educational poverty and reduce school dropout rates through an integrated approach that combines formal and non-formal education.

A Project for the Future of Youth

The course provides students with the opportunity to develop practical skills related to Green Jobs, which are professions connected to the ecological transition. During the workshops, participants will explore environmental sustainability topics, real-world challenges linked to work and the environment, and gain useful tools and knowledge to understand the opportunities offered by green jobs.

The Challenge-Based Method: Learning by Doing

The core of the educational workshops lies in the Challenge-Based Learning method, which places young people in front of real-world sustainability challenges, encouraging them to imagine concrete solutions. This approach goes beyond theory, allowing participants to apply their knowledge of sustainability, project design, and green jobs to solve real-life problems.

In upcoming sessions, students will take part in a Hackathon, a collaborative event where they will develop a game (card or board, analog or digital) that helps their peers understand green jobs and the challenges of climate change, using accessible language for both students and teachers.

About Sfide

The Sfide project is funded by the European Union through the Next Generation EU program - PNRR M5C3 - Investment 1.3, which includes structured socio-educational interventions to combat educational poverty in Southern Italy, supported by the third sector.
