Project objective
The project aims to develop a new educational model capable of promoting the development of basic skills in STEAM disciplines among minors aged 14-17 in the provinces of Agrigento and Trapani through a composite and multidisciplinary intervention targeting students and teachers, based on the experimentation of integrated educational and teaching models capable of effectively innovating both the learning of key technical skills in STEAM and the development of soft skills that can promote active citizenship and facilitate entry into the world of work.
Target audience
The project targets adolescents (14-17 years) in the provinces of Agrigento and Trapani, teachers and other actors in the educating community (public bodies, companies, ETS).
Activities
The project promotes 7 main actions:
Development of the educating community: the action includes training of teachers for the management of project activities and the release of innovative methodologies in teaching, as well as the development of the local educating community network to promote the replication of the intervention, cooperation between institutions and the transfer of know-how between teachers.
Programming and robotics path: the path provides participating minors with an introduction to the concepts of programming, sensors and robotics. Topics covered: Python language, Arduino – Circuits and sensors, Arduino – Robotics and Automation.
Introduction to Cyber Security path: the path provides participants with basic concepts of IT security. Topics covered: Linux, the OSI model and the TCP/IP model, physical and logical addressing (Ethernet and IP), protocols and connectivity verification tools (ICMP, ping traceroute), infrastructure for network security, Access Control, types of Hackers, common threats and attacks.
"A sustainable world" path: the path supports the acquisition of knowledge and skills on sustainable development, ecological and digital transition. Topics covered: UN Agenda 2030, circular economy, ecological and digital transition, green jobs and new employment opportunities.
Creathon: 3-day creative marathon in which students will have the opportunity to put into practice the skills acquired in the technical and transversal training modules. They will compete in response to a challenge launched by the training teachers.
"Civic applications new technologies" experiments: the path aims to develop students' digital skills by promoting their active citizenship and knowledge of the territory through interactive workshops based on new technologies: First Life (commoning and community mapping), Commons Hood (blockchain technology for financial inclusion in support of the local economy).
Work accompaniment: the path includes extensive involvement of professionals from external companies to effectively contribute to the orientation of students towards university and/or work paths. Planned: activities to train soft skills, job shadowing sessions, practical accompaniment paths (CV, interview simulation, etc.), orientation to STEAM professions.

Through the use of artificial intelligence and innovative digital tools, the initiative intends to provide new skills to agricultural professionals and improve the training offer in vocational education and training (VET).
