Goal of the project
Promotion of sustainable mountain tourism in the village of Mussomeli through initiatives aimed at connecting residents with each other and with their territory in order to enhance the immense historical, artistic, natural and cultural heritage throughout the year.

The project targets:
- Community of Mussomeli
- Associations participating in the Collaboration Agreement, including Pro Loco, a group of five confraternities, the Good Kitchen association, Arnia associazione ricreativa culturale, and A.S.D. Amici della MTB Mussomeli.
- Active citizens, tourism operators, accommodation and catering businesses
Activities
- Establishment of a community social enterprise for the synergistic management of different types of interventions over time and support to ensure the sustainability of the processes initiated by the project.
- Creation of new products compared to traditional ones with the activation of "leftover" economies through relationship-based agriculture for a tourism offering with a strong focus on authentic, unique and unrepeatable experiences.
- Regeneration Lab - Co-design workshops with the local community (accommodation facilities, bars, pubs, restaurants, artisans, entrepreneurs, students, cultural and social operators) to bring out the value propositions that distinguish the mountain destination and that aim at the development of the territory-community.
- Experience Factory: investment in specialist services to improve the quality of tourism products/services and to stimulate and attract markets other than the local one through a series of training and capacity-building meetings.
- Creation of excavation and co-design workshops as part of participatory archaeology activities to consolidate the link between citizens and historical and cultural heritage and to create a tourist offering with a strong element of authentic, unique and unrepeatable experience.
- Civic crowdfunding to activate collective commitment to the protection of common heritage.
- Organisation and implementation of training and inspirational courses on entrepreneurship, shared value creation and civic hackathons.
- Establishment of regional and interregional networks.
- Joint initiatives to promote tourism through the creation of cultural and nature itineraries, the organisation of events to promote local products and enhance the value of the area, the promotion of religious traditions, the organisation of regional and national sporting events, and the sharing of knowledge and culinary traditions, including through solidarity experiences.
- Enhancement of eco-sustainable mobility through the design and implementation of sharing mobility and green citizenship mobility services.
- Promotion of film tourism on domestic and foreign markets through the writing of a screenplay and the creation of a pitch trailer for a pilot episode of a television series based on the publication in Giallo Mondadori in August 2022 of the novella by writer Roberto Mistretta, entitled "Trappola per topi" (Mousetrap).
- Creation of a digital platform that improves knowledge of the area for tourism purposes and allows for integrated promotion/marketing.
- Creation of video, photo and print material for the adequate promotion of the renewed offering of the village of Mussomeli.
Impact
- Creation of new products compared to traditional ones, with particular reference to tourist offerings with a strong authentic, unique and unrepeatable experiential content.
- Deseasonalisation of activities related to mountain tourism.
- Increase in the attractiveness of markets other than the local one, with specific reference to different local realities and particular attention to foreign markets.
- Establishment of regional and interregional networks.
- Synergistic integration between different types of eligible interventions.
- Improvement of accessibility conditions for people with disabilities to services and creation of ad hoc tourism products/packages.
- Transition to green and digital tourism in line with the provisions of the "Transition Pathway for Tourism" plan presented by the European Commission.
- Participatory Impact Assessment: monitoring, social impact assessment and co-creation of indicators suitable for self-assessment by the connected, aware and competent community.
