Project objective
To enable young people to actively contribute to important causes related to environmental sustainability, such as the circular economy and sustainable food systems.
Target audience
Young people aged 24 to 30 from rural and urban areas, interested in environmental, agricultural and sustainability issues; 6 participants + 1 group leader per partner.
Activities
This youth exchange programme takes place in Trapani from 17 to 23 May 2024 and offers beneficiaries a full week of engaging community learning experiences, in line with circular economy principles from Sicilian cultural heritage.
Activities consist of multifaceted educational experiences, led by Fondazione Comunitaria di Agrigento e Trapani, divided into:
indoor activities at the Foundation's prestigious Trapani venue: meetings, discussions, workshops and presentations.
practical activities in outdoor spaces such as community gardens and urban farms, for experimenting with good practices for resource optimisation and sustainable food production.
Various pedagogical approaches are used, including participant involvement in composting, organic farming and problem-solving activities.
Interactive workshops facilitate knowledge exchange and innovation.
Dialogues on socio-environmental aspects deepen participants' reflections.
Cultural immersion activities highlight Sicilian culinary traditions and the integration of the circular economy into local practices.
Impact
42 young people from 6 European countries engaged in exploring sustainable food systems and the circular economy, acquiring new knowledge and refining existing skills, while strengthening communication and cooperation skills.
Countries involved: Turkey, Portugal, Greece, Romania, Malta and Italy.

ALICE STEM
ALICE STEM aims to inspire and guide 500 high school students in the city and province of Palermo and in the province of Agrigento towards STEM careers, with particular attention to electronic engineering. STIV
The project aims to promote a sustainable management of European agricultural resources, placing viticulture as a driving sector in the ecological transition. Through the use of artificial intelligence and innovative digital tools, the initiative intends to provide new skills to agricultural professionals and improve the training offer in vocational education and training (VET). With a collaborative approach between European institutions, agricultural producers and educators, the project seeks to strengthen the European network in viticulture, increase individual competitiveness and ensure an inclusive and sustainable transition towards new models of agroecological management.
