Project objective
Our goal is to create 6 cooperating territorial centres in the 6 reference territories, in collaboration with USSM and social services, building an integrated approach of activities that allow the minors involved to discover and desire perspectives beyond deviance and violence. TRAP also indicates that our methodological perspective does not deny the reality of young people, but admits it in order to overturn it together starting from needs and desires to be recognised or discovered. The partnership shares a "restorative" vision of deviance, a reworking approach to personal experiences, awareness that "second chances" exist and the will to create protagonism among minors.
Target audience
The project targets minors in the care of juvenile justice authorities, their families, USMM and social services operators.
Activities
T.R.A.P. activities include three macro areas:
Activities in territorial centres: collective orientation workshops for minors to identify, together with operators, activities to join, based on individual needs and desires; vocational and training orientation paths; restorative justice educational projects; street education projects, to intervene in so-called "at-risk" neighbourhoods; construction of a regional web radio as an expression channel for the minors involved.
Pilot actions: the School of second opportunity, the Youth Bank and the guardians' table – will produce operational guidelines and scouting and training of other Third Sector actors to promote the model of probation that combines solidarity service to the community with the development of child-centred educational paths and the development of local communities.
Inter-territorial experiential activities: sailing around Sicily, walking the Via Francigena in Sicily, implementation of experiential camps.
Impact
The project will reach 1,000 minors followed by juvenile justice authorities in an integrated path of educational and experiential activities, individualised and group support interventions.
Activation of the entire educating community reaching 90 parents with parenting support interventions, 24 educators and social workers, as well as 36 Third Sector organisations involved in training activities, 64 between legal guardians and voluntary guardians of unaccompanied foreign minors involved in the guardians' tables.
