Aurora Maria La Commare: riflessioni e proposte di una giovane cittadina attiva

Nel merito del progetto Futurama e del percorso dedicato all’esplorazione di tecnologie civiche per una cittadinanza attiva che si rivolge agli studenti di Erice (TP) e Palma di Montechiaro (AG), le formatrici e i formatori dell’Università di Torino e della Fondazione Comunitaria di Agrigento e Trapani hanno intercettato alcune testimonianze importanti. Riportiamo qui quella di Aurora Maria La Commare (classe 3° E dell’IISS Sciascia e Bufalino di Erice) che offre una personale riflessione sulla sua città maturata dopo uno scambio culturale all’estero, dimostrando quanto sia prezioso il punto di vista delle ragazze e dei ragazzi sul proprio territorio. Per questo è importante offrire loro strumenti che sappiano stimolare il loro sguardo critico e alimentare la capacità di immaginazione, proprio come sta avvenendo con il progetto Futurama selezionato da Con i Bambini nell’ambito del Fondo per il contrasto della povertà educativa minorile e cofinanziato da Fondazione Cassa Depositi e Prestiti.

La nostra casa

Durante l’incontro con  l’associazione culturale OUT - Officina Urbana Trapani, organizzata con il percorso educativo FirstLife presso i locali di Beehive, impresa sociale e spazio di coworking nel centro storico di Trapani, ho avuto l’opportunità di maturare una riflessione importante sulla mia città. OUT si occupa di rigenerazione urbana e l’intervista al suo Presidente e a uno dei soci mi ha motivato ad esprimere e mettere a fuoco il mio punto di vista sul miglioramento urbano della città.

L'essere determinata è sempre stato un punto forte del mio carattere e, ad oggi, sfrutto questo mio lato per contribuire ed essere una cittadina attiva, interessata al miglioramento della mia città, che considero casa mia, anzi nostra perchè di tutte e di tutti quelli che la vivono.

Credo fortemente che oggi la città fornisca soltanto ciò che offre la natura, come il mare o le riserve naturalistiche, e che nessuno si sia mai posto il problema di pensare a come creare e offrire altri servizi o a come rendere migliori e più efficaci quelli esistenti.

Sono una ragazza di  17 anni che, come molti dei suoi coetanei, sogna una città che sappia intrattenerci e che riesca a darci delle motivazioni per restare, oltre a quelle dei legami familiari, legate al potenziale della città che però, in questo momento, non vedo anche se credo che ci sia e che si potrebbe migliorare con la costruzione di:

• Parchi
• Luoghi di ritrovo
• Luoghi per lo studio
• Attività gratuite al fine di divertirsi (discoteche, palestre etc....)

Un mondo messo a paragone

Questa esigenza di voler rinnovare la mia città nasce dai miei recenti viaggi che mi hanno permesso di esplorare altri luoghi e di confrontarli con Trapani, notando le carenze ma anche raccogliendo ispirazione per poterle colmare.

Recentemente, per uno scambio culturale, ho avuto la possibilità di visitare la Francia, più in particolare Orange, una città equivalente a Trapani, vicino Marsiglia. Oltre ad essere stata un'esperienza stupenda, mi è servito per aprirmi a nuove realtà e per capire che cosa mi avesse affascinato di Orange e che cosa invece mancasse a Trapani. C’erano per esempio enormi ristoranti con le locandine in cui erano riportate pietanze davvero strane e speciali, ma invitanti, che mi facevano venire la voglia di entrare. Ma più di ogni altra cosa ricordo il giorno in cui, tornando a casa della famiglia che mi ospitava, insieme agli amici, vidi un enorme parco dove giocavano bambine e bambini, dove ragazze e ragazzi facevano il picnic sul prato e le e gli adulti si allenavano con degli attrezzi messi a disposizione. Io quasi pregai i miei amici di entrare, l’idea di poter mangiare sul prato proprio come nei film mi emozionava, non ne avevo mai avuto la possibilità a Trapani. Mi accontentarono ed entrammo, loro non riuscivano a capire perché fossi così felice, si trattava  solo di un parco, per loro era normale, ma per me era straordinario. Ecco, questo vorrei da Trapani che mi offrisse spazi dove poter stare, all’aria aperta, con il mio gruppo di amiche e amici, dove poter mangiare stesa su un prato, dove poter socializzare godendo delle bellezze della città, con naturalezza, proprio come fosse “una cosa normale”.

Within the framework of the Futurama project and its dedicated path exploring civic technologies for active citizenship, students from Erice (TP) and Palma di Montechiaro (AG) engaged with trainers from the University of Turin and the Community Foundation of Agrigento and Trapani . They intercepted some significant testimonials, including that of Aurora Maria La Commare (Grade 11, IISS Sciascia e Bufalino, Erice), who offers a personal reflection on her city, shaped by her experiences abroad. This highlights the value of young people's perspectives on their own territory. It's crucial to provide them with tools that stimulate critical thinking and nurture imagination, as demonstrated by the Futurama project, selected by Con i Bambini under the Poverty Reduction Fund for Child Education, co-financed by the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Foundation.

Our Home

During a meeting with the cultural association OUT - Officina Urbana Trapani, organized through the educational path of FirstLife at the Beehive premises, a social enterprise and coworking space in the historic center of Trapani, I had the opportunity to reflect deeply on my city. OUT focuses on urban regeneration, and interviewing its President and a member motivated me to express and focus on my viewpoint regarding urban improvement.

Being determined has always been a strong point of my character and, to date, I exploit this aspect of my character to contribute and be an active citizen, interested in improving my city, which I consider to be our home for everyone who lives there, not only because of nature, such as the sea or nature reserves. I am convinced that today the city provides only what nature offers, and that no one has ever bothered to think about how to create and offer other services or how to improve and make existing ones more effective.

I am a 17-year-old girl who, like many of her peers, dreams of a city that knows how to entertain us and that can give us reasons to stay, in addition to those of family ties, tied to the potential of the city, which, at the moment, I do not see even though I believe it is and could be improved with the construction of:

• Parks
• Meeting places
• Places for study

A World Compared

This need to renew my city comes from my recent travels that have allowed me to explore other places and compare them with Trapani, noticing the shortcomings but also gathering inspiration to fill them.

Recently, for a cultural exchange, I had the chance to visit France, specifically Orange, a city similar to Trapani, near Marseille. In addition to being a wonderful experience, it helped me open up to new realities and understand what fascinated me about Orange and what was missing in Trapani. For example, there were huge restaurants with posters showing really strange and special dishes, but inviting, which made me want to go in. But more than anything else, I remember the day when, returning to the family that hosted me, together with friends, I saw a huge park where children played, where people had picnics on the lawn and adults worked out with equipment provided. I almost begged my friends to enter, the idea of being able to eat on the lawn just like in the movies excited me, I had never had the opportunity in Trapani. They satisfied me and we entered, they could not understand why I was so happy, it was just a park for them, it was normal, but for me it was extraordinary. That's what I would like from Trapani to offer me spaces where I can be outdoors with my group of friends, where I can eat lying on the lawn, where I can socialize while enjoying the beauties of the city, naturally, as if it were "a normal thing."

The Futurama project has been selected by Con i Bambini as part of the Fund for combating educational poverty among minors and co-financed by the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti Foundation. The Fund was created through an agreement between banking foundations represented by Acri, the National Forum of the Third Sector, and the Government. It supports interventions aimed at removing economic, social, and cultural barriers that prevent minors from fully benefiting from educational processes.
