Bilancio Sociale 2020
La memoria sostiene e rilancia nel tempo ogni declinazione del verbo “generare”. Ognuno di noi, facendo appello alla memoria delle persone più care, può risalire con precisione alle prime parole pronunciate in modo singolare in questo mondo. La memoria di queste prime parole è preziosa perché svela legami, intreccia destini, apre strade. Questo vale non solo per ogni vita umana, ma anche per ogni organizzazione che nasce con l’obiettivo di sostenere lo sviluppo di una comunità e di un territorio. Per noi il 2020 ha rappresentato il primo anno di piena attività e, nel muovere i suoi primi passi, la Fondazione Comunitaria di Agrigento e Trapani ha pronunciato con convinzione queste prime parole: “affrontare - le sfide - insieme” (Scarica il Bilancio Sociale 2020).
Come Ente del Terzo settore abbiamo fatto nostro il verbo “affrontare” con la consapevolezza che ogni azione possibile deve essere preceduta da un approccio serio e responsabile, uno “stare di fronte” per l’appunto, che impegna anzitutto la capacità di ascolto, di lettura e di analisi di un territorio dei suoi bisogni e delle sue risorse. Operiamo in un contesto complesso, segnato da fragilità sociali, culturali ed economiche che l’emergenza Covid ha ulteriormente acuito ed esasperato. In questo senso per noi “affrontare” ha significato anche “fare fronte comune” dinnanzi alle diseguaglianze, alla disgregazione sociale e all’isolamento per essere un’infrastruttura capace di collegare e amplificare l’impatto delle buone iniziative.
La sfida più importante raccolta dalla Fondazione di Comunità è stata quella di costruire quotidianamente legami e alleanze circolari, multiformi, ibride ma sempre attente a chi è più fragile. È stata dunque una sfida che ha aperto e apre a molteplici “sfide”: la Fondazione di Comunità sta sviluppando infatti un ruolo strategico nei sistemi territoriali locali non solo attraverso le azioni di raccolta fondi, ma anche generando e facilitando progettualità comunitarie di sistema, capaci di affrontare la complessità facendo convergere risorse e competenze.
Tutto ciò è stato reso possibile grazie all’ampio partenariato locale ed extra locale e al contributo di privati e di organizzazioni che sostengono le nostre attività per lo sviluppo locale sostenibile. “Insieme” è molto di più della somma delle singole parti: è la cifra sintetica che definisce l’operato, l’essenza e il far di parte di una comunità. Il 2020 ha visto crescere anzitutto il capitale umano della nostra Fondazione di Comunità: la squadra operativa si è allargata, è nato il Comitato di indirizzo e la platea di donatori si è arricchita. Al tempo stesso, prioritaria è stata la costruzione di legami di fiducia, di collaborazione e di co-progettazione all’interno della rete intessuta con altre fondazioni di comunità, con gli enti pubblici, con gli Enti del Terzo settore, con le aziende e con la comunità locale.
La crisi che stiamo attraversando ci pone di fronte all’improrogabile urgenza della “ricostruzione”: è tempo di rigenerare i legami di prossimità, di rimettere al centro il lavoro di cura sociale, culturale e ambientale; è tempo di investire sulla valutazione dell’impatto che il nostro agire ha sulla coesione delle nostre comunità. Solo la capacità di risposta sinergica, rapida, globale e interconnessa può aprire strade che possono realmente e concretamente definirsi sostenibili e inclusive di fronte a ogni forma di fragilità.
Il 2020 non è stato solo un anno vissuto nel segno dell’emergenza e delle risposte messe in campo per far fronte ai nuovi bisogni: abbiamo dato spazio all’implementazione e alla progettazione di importanti iniziative di sistema coerenti con la nostra missione, all’animazione territoriale, alla costruzione di alleanze locali ed extra locali.
Ci attende un tempo nuovo in cui, come Fondazione di Comunità, desideriamo abitare la complessità e le sue sfide con lo sguardo di chi sa cogliere e valorizzare ogni unicità a partire dal senso di comunità.

Memory supports and relaunches over time every form of the verb “to generate.” Each of us, by calling upon the memory of our dearest people, can precisely trace back to the first words uniquely spoken in this world. The memory of these first words is precious because it reveals connections, weaves destinies, and opens paths. This is true not only for every human life but also for every organization that is born with the goal of supporting the development of a community and a territory. For us, 2020 represented the first full year of activity, and in taking its first steps, the Community Foundation of Agrigento and Trapani confidently uttered these first words: “face – the challenges – together” (Download the 2020 Social Report).
As a Third Sector entity, we have embraced the verb “to face” with the awareness that every possible action must be preceded by a serious and responsible approach, a “standing in front” that first and foremost engages the ability to listen, read, and analyze a territory, its needs, and its resources. We operate in a complex context, marked by social, cultural, and economic fragilities that the Covid emergency has further intensified and exacerbated. In this sense, for us “to face” has also meant “to form a united front” against inequalities, social disintegration, and isolation, to be an infrastructure capable of connecting and amplifying the impact of good initiatives.
The most important challenge taken up by the Community Foundation has been to build daily circular, multifaceted, hybrid but always sensitive bonds and alliances to those who are most fragile. It has thus been a challenge that has opened and opens up multiple “challenges”: the Community Foundation is in fact developing a strategic role in local territorial systems not only through fundraising actions but also by generating and facilitating community system projects capable of tackling complexity by converging resources and skills.
All of this has been made possible thanks to the wide local and extra-local partnership and the contribution of private individuals and organizations that support our activities for sustainable local development. “Together” is much more than the sum of the individual parts: it is the synthetic figure that defines the work, essence, and being part of a community. In 2020, the human capital of our Community Foundation primarily grew: the operational team expanded, the Steering Committee was established, and the pool of donors was enriched. At the same time, building relationships of trust, collaboration, and co-planning within the network woven with other community foundations, public entities, Third Sector entities, companies, and the local community was a priority.
The crisis we are going through confronts us with the urgent need for “reconstruction”: it is time to regenerate proximity bonds, to refocus on the work of social, cultural, and environmental care; it is time to invest in assessing the impact that our actions have on the cohesion of our communities. Only the ability for synergistic, rapid, global, and interconnected response can open paths that can really and concretely be defined as sustainable and inclusive in the face of every form of fragility.
2020 was not only a year lived under the sign of emergency and the responses deployed to meet new needs: we gave space to the implementation and design of important system initiatives consistent with our mission, to territorial animation, and to the construction of local and extra-local alliances.
A new time awaits us in which, as a Community Foundation, we wish to inhabit complexity and its challenges with the eyes of those who know how to seize and value each uniqueness, starting from the sense of community.
