Drop-in: laboratori a Licata per educatori e ragazzi

Nel mese di marzo sono stati realizzati due laboratori rivolti agli educatori ed ai ragazzi presso il centro educativo di Licata, nel merito del progetto Drop-in. A Licata nella Parrocchia di San Giuseppe Maria Tomasi nel quartiere periferico Fondachello Playa, presso il quale si trova il luogo educativo ed aggregativo in questione, è forte l’esigenza di una costante “attenzione” dal punto di vista della prevenzione e dell’educazione volti ad evitare fenomeni di degrado e devianza, e al fine di migliorare il livello di cittadinanza attiva e di partecipazione sociale.

Il progetto Drop-in – selezionato daCon i Bambini nell’ambito del Fondo per il contrasto della povertà educativa minorile che si pone l’obiettivo di sostenere la transizione alla vita adulta degli adolescenti, aiutandoli e stimolandoli a costruire un proprio progetto di vita – ha avviato il potenziamento e la valorizzazione di due luoghi aggregativi per adolescenti, spazi di ingaggio relazionale educativo, a Licata e Marsala.

Nel mese di marzo sono stati svolti due laboratori complementari: uno con il gruppo degli educatori - del Gruppo Scout Licata 2 e dell'Azione Cattolica S.G.M. Tomasi - con il fine di capire quali sono i loro bisogni come educatori e quali i bisogni, a loro avviso, dei ragazzi che frequentano le attività del centro educativo.

Il secondo laboratorio è stato realizzato con un gruppo di adolescenti per ascoltare da loro stessi i bisogni percepiti. Con i ragazzi abbiamo realizzato un viaggio tra le emozioni, quelle che più ci rappresentano e quelle che meno sappiamo gestire; abbiamo scoperto quanto la noia possa ostacolare la nostra motivazione, come sia difficile poter raccontare le nostre fragilità, quanto le situazioni (sociali e non) possano generare emozioni differenti e contrastanti, come l’ansia possa insorgere in svariate situazioni della nostra vita dalla spiaggia all’aula di scuola. Questo è stato il laboratorio sulle emozioni.

I ragazzi si sono mostrati capaci di trasmettere preziosi insegnamenti: tutte le emozioni sono lecite e legittime, dobbiamo “solo” essere in grado di sviluppare gli strumenti per gestirle in modo sano e non farle sfociare in reazioni eccessive e dannose.

I due momenti, con gli educatori e i ragazzi, hanno fatto emergere le risorse di questa comunità educante che, se sostenuta, ha tutte le potenzialità per essere e affermarsi come esempio brillante di comunità educante.

Quanto emerso ci richiede nei prossimi anni un impegno nel comprendere, conoscere e fronteggiare i fenomeni complessi - soprattutto quelli socio-emotivi - che caratterizzano le nostre società e la possibilità di mettere insieme, come in questo incontro, le diverse realtà educative coinvolgendo e attivando la partecipazione di tutti.

In March, two workshops were held for educators and young people at the education center in Licata as part of the Drop-in project. The educational and aggregative center is located in the San Giuseppe Maria Tomasi Parish, in the peripheral Fondachello Playa district. In this context there is a strong need for constant attention from a prevention and education perspective aimed at avoiding degradation and deviant phenomena, and to improve the level of active citizenship and social participation.

The Drop-in project was selected by Con i Bambini as part of the “Fondo per il contrasto della povertà educativa minorile” (Fund to Combat Child Educational Poverty) which aims to support the transition to adulthood of adolescents, helping and stimulating them to build their own life plan. The Drop-in project has enhanced and valued two aggregative places for adolescents, spaces for educational relational engagement, in Licata and Marsala.

In March, two complementary workshops were conducted: one with the group of educators - from the Scout Group “Licata 2” and the Azione Cattolica Group “S.G.M. Tomasi” - with the aim of understanding their needs as educators and the needs, in their view, of the young people who attend the educational center's activities.

The second workshop was conducted with a group of adolescents to listen to their perceived needs. With the young people, we went on a journey through emotions, those that represent us the most and those we struggle to manage; we discovered how boredom can hinder our motivation, how difficult it can be to share our vulnerabilities, how situations (social and non-) can generate different and contrasting emotions, and how anxiety can arise in various situations throughout our lives, from the beach to the classroom. This was the emotions workshop.

The young people were able to transmit valuable teachings: all emotions are legitimate, we just need to be able to develop the tools to manage them in a healthy way and avoid excessive and harmful reactions.

The two sessions, with educators and young people, have brought out the resources of this educating community, which, if supported, has all the potential to be and establish itself as a brilliant example of an educating community.

What emerged requires us in the coming years to commit to understanding, knowing and addressing the complex phenomena - especially the socio-emotional ones - that characterize our societies and the possibility of bringing together, as in this meeting, the various educational realities by involving and activating the participation of all.
