Futurama: un anno di innovazione digitale e sostenibilità con le attività di Elis

Il primo anno di [Futurama](https://fcagrigentotrapani.it/progetto/futurama/) si è concluso, segnando un importante traguardo per le scuole coinvolte. Selezionato da Con i Bambini nell’ambito del Fondo per il contrasto della povertà educativa minorile e cofinanziato da Fondazione Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, il progetto mira a innovare i percorsi educativi, fornendo a studenti e docenti strumenti per affrontare le sfide del mondo digitale e della sostenibilità.

Grazie al contributo dell’Associazione Centro ELIS, gli istituti Sciascia e Bufalino di Erice (TP) e Odierna di Palma di Montechiaro (AG) sono stati protagonisti di un’esperienza formativa innovativa. Nell’arco di tre anni, il progetto accompagnerà le nuove generazioni nel rafforzare competenze tecniche, digitali e trasversali.

Durante il primo anno, quattro classi seconde hanno intrapreso un percorso di crescita su tre ambiti chiave per il futuro del lavoro e della società: Programmazione e Robotica, Cyber Security e Sostenibilità. Un viaggio formativo che continuerà nei prossimi anni, con l’obiettivo di costruire una scuola sempre più orientata all’innovazione, alla cittadinanza attiva e alla sostenibilità.

Programmazione e Robotica: il linguaggio del domani

Imparare a programmare significa acquisire un superpotere: la capacità di trasformare le idee in strumenti concreti per risolvere problemi e creare innovazione. Nel primo anno del percorso Programmazione e Robotica, gli studenti e le studentesse si sono immersi nel linguaggio Python, uno dei più utilizzati in ambito informatico per la sua flessibilità e versatilità.

Tra sintassi, algoritmi e problem solving, i ragazzi hanno imparato a scrivere codice, strutturare sequenze di comandi e sviluppare un approccio sempre più analitico. Python è molto più di un linguaggio di programmazione: è il cuore pulsante di settori in forte espansione come la data science, l’automazione e l’intelligenza artificiale. Con questo percorso, gli studenti stanno costruendo competenze fondamentali per il loro futuro professionale e per un mondo sempre più digitalizzato.

Cyber Security: proteggere il presente per costruire il futuro

Viviamo in un’epoca in cui la sicurezza digitale è una priorità. Conoscere i rischi informatici e imparare a proteggere dati e sistemi è diventato essenziale. Il primo anno del percorso Cyber Security ha visto studenti e studentesse esplorare il sistema operativo Linux, un pilastro dell’informatica.

Grazie a esercitazioni pratiche, i ragazzi hanno imparato a navigare e amministrare Linux utilizzando la linea di comando, scrivere script Bash e comprendere i principi fondamentali delle reti informatiche. L’obiettivo non è solo quello di acquisire competenze tecniche, ma anche di sviluppare una consapevolezza critica sulle minacce digitali e sulle strategie per contrastarle.

Sostenibilità: la tecnologia al servizio del pianeta

La trasformazione digitale deve andare di pari passo con la consapevolezza ambientale e sociale. Ecco perché il percorso di Cyber Security è stato integrato con un focus sulla sostenibilità e sugli Obiettivi di Sviluppo Sostenibile (SDG) dell’Agenda 2030.

Gli studenti hanno approfondito temi cruciali come:

• Energia pulita e accessibile (SDG 7)
• Lavoro dignitoso e crescita economica (SDG 8)
• Industria, innovazione e infrastrutture (SDG 9)

Oltre a questi, hanno esplorato i legami tra istruzione di qualità (SDG 4), parità di genere (SDG 5) e riduzione delle disuguaglianze (SDG 10), riflettendo su come la sostenibilità non riguardi solo l’ambiente, ma anche il rispetto dei diritti e delle pari opportunità per tutti. Attraverso dibattiti e attività pratiche, i ragazzi hanno sviluppato uno sguardo critico sul mondo e sulle azioni necessarie per renderlo più equo e sostenibile.

Docenti protagonisti del cambiamento

Futurama non è solo un progetto per gli studenti: anche gli insegnanti hanno avuto un ruolo centrale. La formazione rivolta ai docenti ha affrontato sfide fondamentali per la scuola di oggi: come comunicare con la Generazione Z e Alpha, come gestire la classe e come integrare le tecnologie emergenti nella didattica.

Attraverso momenti di confronto e scambio tra i docenti delle scuole coinvolte, il percorso ha promosso una riflessione collettiva sulla professione dell’insegnante nel contesto attuale, caratterizzato da rapidi mutamenti culturali e tecnologici. Particolare attenzione è stata data alla comunicazione empatica e allo storytelling, strumenti essenziali per rendere la didattica più coinvolgente e per costruire relazioni significative con gli studenti.

L’uso della realtà aumentata e dell’intelligenza artificiale è stato esplorato come opportunità per arricchire l’insegnamento, stimolare la creatività e rendere l’apprendimento più immersivo. Infine, è stato approfondito il ruolo del docente come mediatore tra studenti e nuove tecnologie, per garantire un uso consapevole e critico degli strumenti digitali.

Uno sguardo al futuro

Il primo anno di Futurama ha dimostrato come l’innovazione tecnologica e la formazione possano essere strumenti potenti per costruire un’educazione più inclusiva, dinamica e proiettata verso il futuro.

Ma il viaggio non finisce qui! Il secondo anno di progetto è già partito, con nuove attività e sfide per studenti e docenti. Nei prossimi mesi continueremo a raccontare i progressi del percorso e le storie di chi, grazie a Futurama, sta costruendo il proprio futuro.

The first year of Futurama has concluded, marking an important milestone for the schools involved. Selected by Con i Bambini under the Fund for the fight against child educational poverty and co-financed by Fondazione Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, the project aims to innovate educational pathways, providing students and teachers with the tools to face the challenges of the digital world and sustainability.

Thanks to the contribution of the Associazione Centro ELIS, the Sciascia and Bufalino Institutes of Erice (TP) and Odierna Institute of Palma di Montechiaro (AG) were at the forefront of an innovative training experience. Over the course of three years, the project will guide new generations in strengthening technical, digital, and transversal skills.

During the first year, four second-year classes embarked on a growth path in three key areas for the future of work and society: Programming and Robotics, Cyber Security, and Sustainability. A formative journey that will continue in the coming years with the goal of building a school increasingly oriented towards innovation, active citizenship, and sustainability.

Programming and Robotics: The Language of Tomorrow

Learning to program means acquiring a superpower: the ability to turn ideas into concrete tools to solve problems and create innovation. In the first year of the Programming and Robotics course, students immersed themselves in the Python language, one of the most widely used in the IT field for its flexibility and versatility.

Through syntax, algorithms, and problem-solving, the students learned to write code, structure command sequences, and develop an increasingly analytical approach. Python is much more than a programming language; it is the beating heart of rapidly expanding sectors such as data science, automation, and artificial intelligence. Through this course, students are building fundamental skills for their professional future and an increasingly digitalized world.

Cyber Security: Protecting the Present to Build the Future

We live in an era where digital security is a priority. Understanding IT risks and learning how to protect data and systems has become essential. In the first year of the Cyber Security course, students explored the Linux operating system, a pillar of IT. Through hands-on exercises, the students learned to navigate and administer Linux using the command line, write Bash scripts, and understand the fundamental principles of computer networks. The goal is not only to acquire technical skills but also to develop a critical awareness of digital threats and strategies to counter them.

Sustainability: Technology at the Service of the Planet

Digital transformation must go hand in hand with environmental and social awareness. That’s why the Cyber Security course has been integrated with a focus on sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda. Students delved into crucial topics such as:

• Clean and accessible energy (SDG 7)
• Decent work and economic growth (SDG 8)
• Industry, innovation, and infrastructure (SDG 9)

Additionally, they explored the connections between quality education (SDG 4), gender equality (SDG 5), and the reduction of inequalities (SDG 10), reflecting on how sustainability is not only about the environment but also about respecting rights and equal opportunities for all. Through debates and practical activities, the students developed a critical view of the world and the actions needed to make it more fair and sustainable.

Teachers as protagonists of change

Futurama is not only a project for students: teachers also played a central role. The training for teachers addressed key challenges for today’s school: how to communicate with Generation Z and Alpha, how to manage the classroom, and how to integrate emerging technologies into teaching.

Through moments of discussion and exchange between the teachers of the involved schools, the course promoted a collective reflection on the teaching profession in the current context, characterized by rapid cultural and technological changes. Special attention was given to empathetic communication and storytelling, essential tools for making teaching more engaging and building meaningful relationships with students.

The use of augmented reality and artificial intelligence was explored as an opportunity to enrich teaching, stimulate creativity, and make learning more immersive. Finally, the role of the teacher as a mediator between students and new technologies was emphasized, ensuring the conscious and critical use of digital tools.

A Look to the tuture

The first year of Futurama demonstrated how technological innovation and education can be powerful tools for building a more inclusive, dynamic, and future-oriented education. But the journey does not end here! The second year of the project has already started, with new activities and challenges for students and teachers. The *Futurama project was selected by Con i Bambini as part of the Fund for the fight against child educational poverty and co-financed by Fondazione Cassa Depositi e Prestiti.
